Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. I am brand new to Pet Harbor. Pet Harbor has not introduced me to cats. When more information is learned, it will be posted here. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. I am brand new to Pet Harbor. When more information is learned, it will be posted here.
Energy Level:
Medium-High
Owner Aptitude Level:
Young Northern breed experience preferred
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Richard Joseph Klares.
History:
I came to Pet Harbor from a suburban animal shelter.
Movies:
  1. 9/29/2023 – Come!
  2. 9/28/2023 – Beautiful Run
  3. 9/28/2023 – Play with me! Play with me!
  4. 9/24/2023 – Toy Time

More About Me: Whirlwind. That’s a good description for me. When you mix up in a recipe that I am a Siberian and I am young, what is your end product? Klare, of course. A bundle of Siberian energy and loads of fun. I also, like many Siberians, have a growly sound when I play, which can be misinterpreted by those who don’t know what it means. Pet Harbor will try to get a video of it. So are you looking to add to your family a whirlwind of sweetness, love, playfulness, and energy? Then choose me! I’d also be a great running or exercise partner.

More About Me: Siberian huskies need jobs. Boredom creates havoc with them. Do I have a job? Of course, I do! I am a drum majorette. That person (or dog as the case may be) who leads the rest and prances with her head and tail held high and maybe carrying a stick, that person/dog, that would be me. I am a regular youngster, as playful as I can be. I refuel and play again. It’s a way of life for me. All toys are mine. I’m very good about playing with my toys and leaving things alone that don’t belong to me. My foster dad has taught me commands, but, remember, I am a Siberian husky. Whether I listen or not is a whole different story. The one thing he tries to teach me that I refuse to acknowledge is fetch. I will go after the ball. I just won’t bring it back. Doesn’t that tell you I’m a true Siberian husky? One cute trick my foster dad says I have is self-untangling from a leash. Isn’t that cute? I’m a loving little girl, too, very happy. I mean, how many sad drum majorettes have you ever known? My foster family says I melt into people as if I’m butter, and I love to go belly up and get tummy scratches.

What am I?
Spayed female Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
43 pounds (as of 10/6/2023)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children of all ages. I’ve been great with them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 10/3/2023, I was introduced to cats and showed strong, unbreakable attention. On 1/27/2024, I was reintroduced to cats. The first cat I saw as a toy and tried to play. The three other cats I saw after that I ignored. Two hours later, I saw rabbies. Rabbits are not my friend, but I did not have an issue with the cats. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been very playful with all the dogs I have met.
Energy Level:
Medium-High
Owner Aptitude Level:
Northern breed experience preferred
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Renee A. May.
History:
I came to Pet Harbor from a suburban animal shelter. I was in that same shelter once before as well.
Movies:
  1. 12/02/2023 – Tummy Time
  2. 12/02/2023 – Good Girl
  3. 12/02/2023 – Continuous Wags
  4. 12/02/2023 – Bunny Hop
  5. 11/12/2023 – Renee Tummy Scratches
  6. 11/12/2023 – Helene & Her Buds
  7. 9/24/2023 – Sittin’ Pretty

More About Me: Happy, h-a-p-p-y. I’m like a billboard advertising happiness. That’s at my core. Is it possible to be sad around me? I doubt it, and I make it my mission to see to it that the world is rid of sadness. All smiles, all love and wags. That’s how I live. One of my favorite things in the world is tummy scratches. Oh, please, won’t you scratch my belly? I’m strong and active, playful, too, but my claim to fame is totally the happiness factor.

More About Me: Probably the most important thing I have to tell you is I tell you & I tell you & I tell you. By that, I mean, I don’t stop talking. I have a lot to say, and it overfloweth continuously. Please don’t think you will sleep. Sleep, after all, is overrated. Besides, I have lots of affection to give, kisses, paws, closeness, in very dramatic fashion, so much so that it’s bound to overshadow the nonstop speaking. See, what happened was I heard someone say, “speakeasy,” and I misunderstood. So ready for lots of cuteness and discussions? Then I’m your boy!

More About Me: Ages can be deceiving. I mean, they’re only a guess anyway, but I act like a puppy. I have tons of energy. Well, I am a Siberian husky. I guess since you are on this page, you already know that means energy. When I came to rescue, I was, as you can see in the photos, very thin. Fortunately for me, I have been food-motivated, and my foster home has been able to put some meat on my bones. In my foster home, my two favorite things behind food have been cuddling with people and playing with dogs. I love both of those things equally. Probably one more thing I should mention. I guess you know Siberian huskies are not quiet dogs. Yeah, I’m definitely a Siberian. I would not be a good candidate for an apartment or a library. Two words I just don’t understand are “Shut up!”

Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor was told I’ve always lived with children and have been great with them. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 10. I’ve been great with them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor was told I have always lived with a cat and was great with that kitty. On 9/17, Pet Harbor introduced me to cats. All interactions were positive. On 9/18, however, I attempted to bite two cats and remained intently focused on them. For kitty safety, my home will need to be where I can be separated from cats if needed. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
On 9/17, Pet Harbor introduced me to dogs. My interactions with them have all been positive. I enjoy playing with them. Lucia, also available for adoption, and I enjoyed running through and jumping in the swimming pool when the weather was appropriate.

Named for 9/11 Victim:

History:
My mom got a devastating medical diagnosis and was unable to care for me, and her medical specialist told her I was making her condition worse. I didn’t mean to do that. I miss my family but hope I soon find a new one.

More About Me: Want to start your day off right? Kisses and happiness will bring you morning sunshine. Hey, that’s a good nickname for me: Morning Sunshine. I am a lover, a Casanova, if you will. I must get in my kisses! I do also enjoying playing with toys and in water. I am such a happy boy. My name was Griffith. Pet Harbor shortened it to Grif to honor a 9/11 victim. I was loved, but my mom ended up with a medical issue that meant she could not keep me. I am a good boy and have been really well-trained.

More About Me: Pet Harbor will tell you I am one of the best dogs they’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. I am absolutely the happiest, most loving, sweetest girl in the universe. No one can say, “She likes ME!” because I like EVERYBODY! Correction. I LOVE everybody! I want to climb in everyone’s lap while smiling and wagging my tail at its fullest. I go from one lap to the next. Showers of kisses. People of all ages are just fine with me. And other than at adoption events, I’ve not shown any issues with dogs or cats. Rabbits, that’s a different story, but dogs and cats and people have all been just wonderful with me. And I’m not a pushy powerhouse. I’m a lady. Seriously, Pet Harbor calls me a “refreshing difference.” My name was Helena. Pet Harbor changed it to Helene to honor a 9/11 victim.
