Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor has been told I have always lived with children and I am “ecstatic” to see children. In my foster home, I have displayed only positive interactions with children. In fact, I actually am better at listening when children are near. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children ages 0-4 and follow them around.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor performed a cat-friendliness test. I tried to back away from them and run away. Pet Harbor would caution, though, about relying too much on that because this may have been the first time I have ever seen a cat.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor has been told my history is I lived with one other dog. Since coming to foster care, at first, my tail went up and ears forward. When a group of dogs plays, sometimes I run up to them. Sometimes I run away from them. Sometimes I curl up in a ball. If other dogs are near me, I don’t interact, but I stay.
Owner Aptitude Level:
Timid dog experience or willingness to hire/work with a trainer with such experience required
History:
My history is I came from a rural animal shelter to Pet Harbor.
Dream Home Minimum Requirements: For whatever unknown reason(s), I am painfully shy. Will my new family be rewarded daily? Yes. Most days I seem to progress in baby steps. Will my new family get gentle kisses from me? You betcha! Will my new family give me belly rubs? I hope so! Will my new family understand my shyness, know how to work with me to learn peace and love and not be afraid, have patience, and help me progress more and more? They must! Will my new family have children? Either way is fine with me! Will my new home have a fenced yard? There are pros and cons to either way. Either one would work. Although I progress positively every day, I am not a plug and play dog. Other things about me – I am very quiet. I am so far not as treat-motivated as other dogs. My fear seems to override hunger. I’m still getting used to new people and am especially uneasy around strangers. Hopefully, I will feel generally more secure once I settle into my new home. The bottom line is I need a very special home and family. It will take effort on my family’s part, but they will be rewarded in spades or, should I say, fur?
