Rocha-Raiser

Fundraising goal has been met!!!

Rocha needs your help. Rocha came to Pet Harbor from a suburban animal shelter on the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. After she came to us, we discovered she had a tumor. On September 10th, Rocha visited her veterinarian, who recommended the tumor be removed and biopsied. An estimate was provided of $1,384.

Pet Harbor is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization. We are a breed-specific rescue organization for Siberian huskies. We are volunteer-based and run by donation. We have a network of foster homes throughout Virginia and the surrounding area. Since the COVID pandemic, adoptions have decreased and donations have dwindled. Frankly, Pet Harbor cannot afford Rocha’s surgery, which is why she needs your help. We saved her from death. Now we need your help to get her healthy.

Rocha is expected to be at our September 14 adoption event if you want to stop by and meet her!

To donate, please click the button below, or mail a check to:

and indicate it is for the Rocha-Raiser.

THANK YOU!

Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 11 and have been great with them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 8/11/2024, Pet Harbor introduced me to cats. It was a pretty swift verdict. I cannot live with cats and keep cats safe.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs except that I was great with them when evaluated in a shelter before coming to Pet Harbor. When I first got to Pet Harbor, I ruffled my feathers with dogs. Then I got neutered. Now I play well with them. They are all around my size.

More About Me: Please come run with me while I tell you more about me. You see, I’m in training for a marathon. Don’t you think that’s a good idea, a Siberian running a marathon? I mean, if there are no distractions, I’m bound to win. But what good Siberian could ignore distractions? When not preparing for marathons, I play. Okay. I admit I like to snuggle, too. But that comes after playtime. And there’s also dinnertime. I’m down with that, too! It just occurred to me I don’t want much. Someone to love me, playtime, exercise, a bit of food, not really asking for much, am I?

What am I?
Neutered male Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white wooly, blue eyes
Weight:
64 pounds (as of 8/27/2024)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. I am brand new to Pet Harbor. I have met an 8-year-old child since coming to Pet Harbor, and I was great with her. When more information is learned, it will be posted here.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 8/27/2024, Pet Harbor briefly introduced me to cats. I sniffed and went on my merry way. A bit later, I seemed more interested but also was easily distracted. Bottom line: Pet Harbor cannot say definitively I am good with cats, but there is hope. When more information is learned, it will be posted here.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs except that I was great with them when evaluated in a shelter before coming to Pet Harbor. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I’ve been great with the dogs I’ve met. I’ve immediately engaged in play with all of them. They are all around my size. There is a male in my foster home who ruffles his feathers. I won’t engage. I walk away from him. Wouldn’t it be great if humans would learn that trick?

What am I?
Spayed female Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
43 pounds (as of 9/10/2024)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. On 9/14/2024, I met children up to age 11. I was fine with them, and they enjoy me because I am super easy and gentle with them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 9/14/2024, Pet Harbor introduced me to kitties. I had the best reaction Pet Harbor has ever seen to kitties. I am completely unfazed by them. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor was told I came from a home with a small dog and that I was not good with that small dog. When evaluated before coming to Pet Harbor, I was fine with my interactions with dogs except I growled when a dog was in my face. Pet Harbor learned I have a cataract in one eye, which likely contributed to the growling.
Energy Level:

Owner Aptitude Level:
Novice
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Antonio A. Rocha.
History:
Running at large, I landed in an animal shelter. I was returned to my owners. This happened at least three times. Then my owners surrendered me because they said I had an issue with their small dog. We don’t know what the truth is. All we know is I was in the shelter multiple times. From there, I came to Pet Harbor.

More About Me: Bar none, the easiest Siberian ever. Seriously. Perfect for newbies, perfect for those who want a non-difficult Sibe. I think the takeaway word here is “perfect.” Besides being easy, I am super sweet. Also, I am a melodious talker. September 10, I visited the veterinarian. We learned I am about 6-8 years old. So Pet Harbor will split the difference and call me 7. Also, I have a mammary tumor that as soon as it is financially able to do so, Pet Harbor will have removed and biopsied. Rocha-raiser information coming soon if you would like to donate! As for my vision, I have a cataract in one eye. It isn’t bad and will per veterinary advice be left alone at this time. If you are looking for an easy Siberian, which isn’t a common thing, I’m your gal! See? Perfect.

More About Me: There really is nothing I don’t love. Wait. Is that sentence appropriate or is it too many negatives? I don’t want to be negative at all. I want to be all smiles and love. Some may think my energy level is a negative. I sure don’t. I slow down enough to give and get kisses! I’m really a happy girl, all smiles and love for all.

I just don’t know what else to say except it really and truly is all hearts and roses.

More About Me: Let’s talk about my mysterious beginning first. I was surrendered to a shelter in Virginia. I was transferred to another shelter because the person who turned me in lived in the jurisdiction of the other shelter. However, I had been microchipped. Tracing the microchip backwards revealed not only my approximate birthday but that I was originally in a shelter in Los Angeles, California. Here I am 1.5 years old and have already been in at least THREE animal shelters, one on the West Coast, the others the East Coast. Why? It’s not my fault, I can assure you. Despite all of that, I am a super happy dog. I have been taught commands at some point, but what I really love the most is giving hugs. I stand tall and wrap my paws right around you. Do you need a furry hug or two from a handsome and exuberant Siberian?
