***In Heartworm Treatment***

Age (approx):
1-1/2 years old
Birthday (approx):
October 20, 2020
What am I?
Neutered male Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
41 pounds (as of 5/12/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 8 and have been great with them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 4/27/2022, I was introduced to a kitty. I jumped back away from kitty. On 4/28/2022, I was reintroduced to kitty. I was pretty focused on sniffing him but did not try to harm him. On 5/1/2022, I was reintroduced to kitty. At this time, I had a stalker focus on kitty and tried desperately to reach him. So out of caution for kitty safety, Pet Harbor will only place me in a cat-free home.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. In my shelter evaluation, I exhibited playfulness with another male dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with the other dogs except when I want to be with people and another dog comes around, sometimes I plant my flag.
Energy Level:
Medium-High
Owner Aptitude Level:
Northern breed experience preferred
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Michael DeRienzo.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a county shelter. From there, I came to Pet Harbor.
Movies:

More About Me: My foster mom believes there are two things I love: people and food. She says, boy, would I love to be a restaurateur. Man, that would be the life: surrounded by both food and people! I’d think I’d died and gone to Heaven. My foster mom describes me as super loving. I put my head on her lap if she’s sitting or chest if she’s lying down, and I shine my baby blues until she pets me. Of course, she never pets me enough. So then I go from person to person. When one has stopped petting me, I simply move to the next person. When I’ve made it around to everyone, I then have started the rounds again. But, really, I don’t make the rounds much because I’m so sweet they can’t help but pet me.

I am a small male Siberian. I’d say I’m compact. So I think I’m just the right size for young people. And, of course, I’m easy to train with food if you like training with food, and here’s to hoping you do!

While I am not available now to adopt, you should know I will be available to physically go to an adoptive home after my treatment for heartworm disease is finished. If my new family is found, they can foster me until I am finished with treatment and then adopt me if they can get me to my doctor appointments.

What am I?
Spayed female Siberian husky
Colors:
Grey & white, blue eyes
Weight:
56 pounds (as of 4/16/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 8 and have been great with them. In fact, I’m easy and gentle. So the little children love me.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. At Pet Harbor, I encounter cats daily in my foster home. I ignore them. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with other dogs except when I want to guard something, like a savory treat or bag of garbage.
Energy Level:
Low
Owner Aptitude Level:
Novice
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Nancy Clare Bueche.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a county shelter. From there, I came to Pet Harbor.

  2. 4/23/2022 – Kind & Gentle

More About Me: Really, I’m perfection. Why, you ask? If you’ve never had a Siberian husky before, then I’m your dream dog. In my foster home, I haven’t displayed an energy level shown by the young whippersnappers most days. So I’m a good introduction to the breed without being off the chain. If you check out my video, you will hear my soft & gentle woowoos. So if you like talking and singing Siberians but haven’t been exposed to their voices in your home, my subdued version is a great introduction. I have been fantastic with the children in my foster home. I haven’t barreled through them. I’ve been quite polite with them, and they adore me. I give them soft, easy kisses, and they’ve really enjoyed me. So if you have youngsters, I’m a good introduction to the breed for them. I’ve had a hard life. When I came to Pet Harbor, the initial thought was I was about 6 years old, but the more vets looked at me, the more that age estimate increased. I came to Pet Harbor with really bad skin and ear infections, choppy fur because of it, and without being spayed. Obviously I was without love and care, and I so deserve it. So the final piece to my perfection is I will warm the hearts of those who adopt me knowing they gave me the love and family I have always deserved and wanted. Then, finally, I will learn in my last years that I really am worthy. If you got through this without tears, you’re stronger than the person writing it, but now it’s time for the author to go give me a hug. Thank you for reading my story.

More About Me: So I have two occupations. First, I’m a toymaker. To be a toymaker, one must have as a foundation a love of toys. I have that. The second ingredient of toymaking is creativity. I have that, too. I will turn just about anything into a toy. Good luck trying to be sad around me. I aim to not allow that. My second occupation is also a sadness-eradicating one. I’m a cuddler. At least in my foster home, I’ve been a cuddler. I soak up all the love I can find. For both of my careers, I am a pretty happy fella. Maybe I’m part bunny because I’ve been known to often do a sort of little hoppy dance. So how about it? Wanna dance?

Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 5/7/2022, I was initially introduced to cats. I sniffed a few times and walked away each time. But when kitty ran, I maintained a focus on kitty. On 5/12/2022, Pet Harbor again introduced me to kitties. There was mutual admiration.
In my evaluation, I did well with another male dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with all dogs I’ve met. More About Me: Ready? Set! Action! Let’s roll! I’m not about to sideline. I’m in the center of the action. Heck, I am the center of action. I love to play rough and tumble with the boy in my foster home. I get so excited to see him, and he eats that up! I’ve also been super obedient in my foster home. You can see these things in my videos. The folks at the animal shelter from which I came pushed hard to get rescue to take me because they saw what a fantastic boy I am. At my foster home, I get to go to the bus stop and the ballfield with children, and that’s great! I enjoy playing ball with my foster boy. I have been polite, only getting on furniture by request. I’ve also been a big-time cuddler in my foster home. My foster family has a cool nickname for me. They call me a land cloud! Isn’t that cool? Someone in my past life took good care of me except for the heartworm disease I had. It’s so easy to prevent. Why they didn’t bother is strange. I am a really good boy.

More About Me: I’m a young Siberian. I am as sweet as I can possibly be, I am into everything, and I don’t listen. It’s a vicious cycle. I don’t listen, I get into trouble, and then ignore your reprimands or corrections. My favorite place is on my back while you scratch my belly, but when your back is turned, my second favorite place is in the trashcan. You fill it. I empty it. Teamwork. In my foster home, my preference is to sleep under the bed, but when you get up and plant your feet on the floor, my nose comes out between them. I’d hate to miss any kiss opportunities. I love people. I will jump on the sofa if allowed and snuggle up. I pick the seat closest to a human.

Oh, and a bonus about me – I fetch! Toss a toy. I’ll bring it back and place it in your hand. Most of the time, I actually do this. Of course, I am a Siberian. So it’s not 100% but close! So what would someone not want to adopt me when they get a bonus with the whole package?

Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 9. I have been fine with them. I am a puppy. So I’m like a child myself.
Experience with Cats:
If Pet Harbor is able to introduce me to cats, the information learned will be posted here. I was named for Timothy Brian Higgins.
History:
Running at large, I found myself in a county shelter. Because I have a microchip, my owner was located, but my owner indicated she had given me away because she lived in an apartment, and Siberian husky puppies and apartments are not a good combination. No other owner was located. So I came to Pet Harbor.

More About Me: The best dogs are those with an occupation. I have an occupation. Well, it’s really a career because I plan to do it throughout my life. I am a storm cleaner. So when branches fall from the trees or sky as it appears to me, I feel as if I’ve struck gold. Those branches, twigs, and limbs are my treasures. I carry them in my mouth all the time, until I decide to pulverize them. It’s called recycling. It’s good for the environment. Maybe I’ll call my company Green Higgins. Wait. What about Green Eggs and Ham? That sounds delicious. Oh, that’s already taken. Heck. Who needs a name anyway? If you look at my picture, I am always smiling. And, by the way, I am a puppy and all that entails. Back to my smiles. I’m either always carrying a stick or a smile. But if you look really closely at a picture or video of me with a stick, maybe, just maybe, you will see sometimes I do both. Amazing, huh? Are you my amazing new family?

More About Me: My first foster mom called me Agosto Galoot. I’m a big, goofy galoot who gives slobbery kisses. I’m tall and lanky, need some groceries, and love people. That really describes all there is to me. I’m a happy boy, easy and clumsy, but I’m good, too, not a bad boy like some clumsy oafs. My second foster mom nicknamed me Gus, which is a fitting name for me. As for dogs, I seem to like playing with them, but, really, I prefer people and above people, maybe even toys. I like people so much I go out of my way to make sure they greet me. Like a politician, I have to kiss all the babies, but since I’m not a politician, I don’t stop there. I have to kiss all the people, and I do not discriminate! I’m an easy keeper. In fact, if you don’t do laundry enough, I will be a good boy and remind you by depositing articles of clothing throughout the house!
