Age (approx):
3 years old
Birthday (approx):
March 14, 2020
What am I?
Spayed female Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
55 pounds (as of 12/14/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children prior to coming to Pet Harbor. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children of all ages. I love them. I really want to play with them or just be with them. June 2023, I am in a foster home with children. The little boy says I am his all-time favorite dog.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats prior to coming to Pet Harbor. On 10/23/2022 and 10/30/2022, Pet Harbor introduced me to cats. I sniffed and went on about my business. On 12/14/2022, I met cats again. This time I had a strong focus on them. I chased one cat and pushed to be not distracted from another. While I may be okay with cats, it’s not a good idea for me to be left alone with them. June 2023, I am in a foster home with cats now where we are both free-roaming. No issues at all. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor was told I do well with other dogs. In my evaluation, I did well with another female dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met male and female dogs of all sizes and have been great with all of them.
Energy Level:
Medium
Owner Aptitude Level:
Young Northern breed experience preferred
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for George Gerard Howard.
History:
I was in one shelter. Pet Harbor does not know my history prior to that or why I was in that shelter. That shelter was full and transferred me to another shelter. The 2nd shelter placed me in a home. I was returned to the shelter and from there, came to Pet Harbor.

More About Me: You know those dogs who love so much that they block your path because if they’re snoozing in your way and you head towards them, they will go belly up and want you to scratch? That’s the category in which my foster mom says I fall. No pun intended with the word “fall” there. If my foster mom does manage to get past me, I follow her. I’m not a pest or annoying. I give her gentle kisses unless she tells me to go away, at which point I will sit quietly in her exit path and wait for her to return. I am a snuggler, a hugger, a curl-up-in-your-arms kind of gal. At least that’s what my foster mom says. I try to give her hugs while she’s working. Her boss doesn’t like that much, but I don’t care about her boss. I just care about getting all my lovin’. My favorite thing to do with children at my foster home, besides just being with them, is to sit in front of them, swish my tail, and put up one or both paws so they’ll pay attention to me. Then as soon as they do, I slink down into belly-up position. It gets them every time! A win for both of us! Pet Harbor found evidence that in my first home, young as I was, I was used as a breeding machine. Fortunately, I got to leave there. Unfortunately, I left there with heartworm disease, which is caused by a mosquito. Then I ended up in two shelters, then in another home. They took good care of me, but they felt my energy level was too much for them as they were not spring chickens. They then returned me back to the shelter. Then I came to Pet Harbor. While I love the great outdoors since, after all, I am a Siberian husky, at least in my foster home and the home before it, I have been a cuddler and seem to want nothing more than to be belly up with my people on the bed or sofa or wherever we can get cozy.

***In Heartworm Treatment***

Age (approx):
3 years old
Birthday (approx):
October 20, 2019
What am I?
Spayed female Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
36 pounds (as of 10/30/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. On 10/21/2022, my first day at Pet Harbor, I exhibited some subtle warning behaviors when interacting with a 6yo child who came into my personal space. I then met a 9yo child and had no such behaviors. The 6yo child sat next to me, and I was great when she was petting my head, but when she put her hand across my back, that’s when I growled. 10/30/2022, an adult did that same motion of putting a hand across my back, and I closed my smile in the same way I did with the child. I am very sweet all the rest of the time. Well, unless you’re giving me a shot or drawing blood! A month later, I’m totally great with the same children. No matter where they pet me, I haven’t reacted negatively since the beginning of my time in foster care.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 10/21/2022, I was introduced to kitties. I didn’t react and was easily distracted, but when kitty ran, I ran after. On 10/30/2022, I was reintroduced to kitties. I had no issues with them. 11/23/2022, still no issues with them. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. In my evaluation, I did well with another female dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with all dogs I’ve met. They’ve been male and female Siberian husky-sized.
Energy Level:
Medium
Owner Aptitude Level:
Northern breed experience preferred
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Captain Jason M. Dahl.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a county shelter. From there, I came to Pet Harbor.
Movies:
  1. 10/21/2022 – With a Child
  2. 10/21/2022 – With Grownups

More About Me: Information coming soon! First, while I am not available now to adopt, you should know I will be available to go to an adoptive home after my treatment for heartworm disease is finished. If my new family is found before my treatment is completed on January 15, 2023, they can foster me until I am finished with treatment and then adopt me if they can get me to my doctor appointments.

What am I?
Neutered male Siberian husky
Colors:
Red & white, one blue eye, one parti eye (both blue & brown in the same eye)
Weight:
60 pounds (as of 10/30/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 9. I have been great with those I’ve met. I love (LOVE!) playing ball. So children who play ball are right up my alley! And on the children who didn’t play ball, I spent my time planting gentle, soft kisses.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 10/22/2022, I was introduced to cats. I showed definite interest, but someone walking by with food in their hands was a quick distraction for me. On 10/30/2022, I was reintroduced to cats and had a bit stronger reaction. I intently focused on the kitties. Pet Harbor believes it is best I have a home without kitties.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. When evaluated at the shelter before coming to Pet Harbor, I was great with other dogs. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been fine with all dogs I’ve met except that pesky Razu, who is more puppy than I like.
Energy Level:
Medium
Owner Aptitude Level:
Novice
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Deborah A. Merrick.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a county shelter. My owner did not reclaim me. From there, I came to Pet Harbor.
Movies:
  1. 10/22/2022 – Merrick & the Football
  2. 10/16/2022 – Paw?
  3. 10/16/2022 – Merrick & Sean
  4. 10/16/2022 – Merrick Meets a Dog

More About Me: First, let me tell you about my comical side. I like to put balls, tennis balls, beach balls, golf balls, all kinds of sports balls, in my mouth. Try giving me a treat while I have a ball in my mouth. You will see the wheels in my brain work as I try to figure out a way to take them both at the exact same time! The other side of me is love. I’m really sweet & gentle, easy to walk. At least that’s what my foster mom thinks. I’m not a powerhouse energy dog like some of these youngsters. For a Siberian, I’m on the easier side to handle. Some say Siberian huskies are high maintenance. I’m not. If you’ve always wanted a Siberian, I’m a super great starter one!

More About Me: Before I start telling you what a puppy I am, check out my videos. Am I not The Most Amazing Dog You’ve EVER Met? My super fantastic foster parents have done a truly amazing job with me – in a very short time to boot! Other than having incredible training under my belt, I am a big galoot. That’s me. A puppy. All puppy. I’ll keep you in stitches. Total entertainment. Happy. All. The. Time. Playful. All. The. Time. Sweet and loving all the time, too. I’m happy with people. I’m happy with dogs. I’m equally happy with both. At least that’s how I am in my foster home. Young, handsome, loving, and entertaining. There’s really nothing more you could possibly want. I am the perfect package.

Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. When evaluated at the shelter before coming to Pet Harbor, I was fine with other dogs except my energy level was too much for a small dog. More About Me: Siberian huskies are working dogs. I’m a working dog. My title is that of bedwarmer. I take my job seriously, though I have been caught sleeping on the job.

I’m a pretty calm dog, calmer than my age would suggest. Lest you think I am a lazy dog with no energy, let me tell you about the rabbit who lives in my neighborhood. The race is on! And playing with other dogs, of course, I have that Siberian energy level.

Another thing I do really well is hugs. I stand up with my paws placed gently on someone’s chest and let them put their arms around me. No chance of being sad around me. I can easily fix that problem.

Oh, one more secret I can tell you. The way to my heart. Food. What is my favorite? A good, juicy slab of steak with a side of bacon. Yum!
