What am I?
Spayed female Siberian Husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
31 pounds (as of 12/29/17)
Experience with Children:
There were two children in my original home, where I lived for three years. Pet Harbor has no idea about my 4th year. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met two children: a baby and a preschooler. I give them lots of kisses.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 1/7/18, I was tested for cat-friendliness. The result is, without a smidgen of doubt, I cannot live with cats.
Experience with Dogs:
There were two other dogs (one my size, one smaller) in my original home, where I lived for three years. When I was tested for dog-friendliness in the shelter before coming to Pet Harbor, my test results were all good. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met multiple dogs my size and bigger and all interactions with them have been great.
Energy Level:
Medium
Owner Aptitude Level:
Novice
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Vivian Casalduc.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a county animal shelter. After serving my time there, I came to Pet Harbor.
Movies:
  1. 12/24/17 – I’m such a talker!
  2. 1/7/18 – My focus on cats

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Cuddles. I like to cuddle. You can be an infant, a grownup, or anything in between. I will want to cuddle with you and give you snuggly kisses. I will curl up in your lap if you let me. Everybody thinks I’m a cutie patootie. For a Siberian, I just have the cutest little short face! I’m also a dainty lady. I know politeness. Maybe I went to charm school or was a Southern belle in a former life? So let’s have a cuddle session or a professional dinner party. I would be ever so appreciative. Thank you ever so much (Insert curtsy.).

What am I?
Neutered male Alaskan Malamute
Colors:
Grey & white, blue eyes
Weight:
74 pounds (as of 1/4/18)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children ages 1 to 4. I am a giant teddy bear with them. It’s that simple.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 12/22, Pet Harbor performed a test for cat-friendliness. I completely ignored the cats. Please remember a cat-friendliness test is just a snapshot in time. To keep them safe, Northern breeds and cats should never be left unsupervised.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs, but at the shelter, I was tested with a few dogs. I had good interactions except with dominant males. True to my breed, I am much better with lady dogs. I just got to Pet Harbor and have met several dogs. I am a giant flirt with the lady dogs. Leah, also available for adoption, who isn’t a big fan of other dogs, LOVES me. The feeling is mutual. However, the male dog who was most recently neutered has been the sole recipient of my disdain. (Please remember I am not yet neutered. That will happen January 8.)
Energy Level:
Medium
Owner Aptitude Level:
Northern breed experience required
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Susan G. Santo.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a rural Virginia county shelter. The shelter knew who my owners were because, well, I was a frequent visitor. True to my Northern breed heritage, I knew how to escape. Why they didn’t get me neutered makes no sense to me. It might have kept me from escaping. Anyway, the shelter thought I was a Siberian Husky. So I ended up at Pet Harbor Rescue. Now I am a token Malamute in a Siberian rescue. 🙂

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: I’m a sweetheart. I want people who will let me be a cuddle bear. I will curl up next to you and snuggle. I have an occupation, that of a couch warmer. I’ve had quite a lot of interest since coming to Pet Harbor and have several already approved applicants waiting to meet me after I am neutered and heartworm-tested. So if you are interested specifically in an Alaskan Malamute, we would recommend you visit Alaskan Malamute rescue at chaamp.org.

What am I?
Neutered male Siberian Husky
Colors:
Red & white, blue eyes
Weight:
62 pounds (as of 12/16/17)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children of all ages. I have had all positive interactions with them. In fact, I ADORE children. I am drawn to them like a magnet. I become putty in their hands.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 12/22, Pet Harbor performed a test for cat-friendliness. I failed miserably. I cannot live with kitties.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs, but I was tested with male and female dogs and wanted to play with them all. I had a negative interaction with a male dog in my foster home, but he was the aggressor. I feared him. I kept my distance from him and ran away when he was near. I’m a lover, not a fighter. He was adopted, which made me blossom. Now I just bounce around and play like a puppy. In play, I do tease other dogs. Some of them find me annoying, but I do like teasing!
Energy Level:

Owner Aptitude Level:
Young Northern breed experience required
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for John Peter Lozowsky.
History:
Apparently in my short life, I’ve made the rounds. The story is a bit confusing, and how much is true is really not known. Supposedly I was purchased from a breeder and then hopped from home to home, starting with my original family moving, fast forwarding to my ending up in doggy jail. My then owner, a new owner, chose not to pay my bail. So I came to Pet Harbor. Hopefully reading this will make you understand why Pet Harbor goes to great lengths to try to ensure the homes they place dogs in are FOREVER homes!
Movies:
  1. 12/16/17 – I want to play, play, play all day!
  2. 12/30/17 – Kiiids… please play with me!
  3. 1/27/18 – Will give paw for treats!
  4. 1/27/18 – My great training on display!
  5. 1/27/18 – I love, love, love Pet Harbor volunteers!
  6. 1/27/18 – Let’s play!

More About Me: Lots to tell, but by far, the most important thing you should know is I want to play. I want to play. I want to play. Wait. I think the needle is stuck. Nope. It’s true. I want to play. What does that mean? That means your socks are my toys, my leash is a chew toy, kid toys are my toys, even dog toys are my toys. Of course, my FAVORITE toy is tennis balls. Maybe you and I could go on the tennis court and I could chase the balls you miss? You know how a shepherd keeps his flock together? I am a toy shepherd. Let’s summarize. ALL things are my toys! Did I mention I like to play? Oh, I like other things, too, like belly scratches. People. I like people, too! No. I love people. All people. I enjoy them loving me, but the real truth is I hope they will play with me! I absolutely should either have children in my home or frequently visiting. I really need access to children to be at my happiest. Lest you think I am all about the play, I am a good boy also. I know some commands and I’ll listen most of the time. I would like an active household. Maybe you have some rough-and-tumble kids who would like a new pooch who would adore them? Happy and loving and playful. What more could you possibly want? Maybe the fact that I am an easy rider in a vehicle. Oh, you should also know I am strong, REALLY strong. See? I can even give you a good workout! So save that gym money, and let’s go home!

What am I?
Neutered male Siberian Husky
Colors:
Red & white, blue eyes
Weight:
50 pounds (approx)
Experience with Children:
Though unverified, Pet Harbor was told I came from a home where I lived with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met two children: a baby and a preschooler. I was polite with them and wagged a lot. I’m not a big kisser, but I did like to be near them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor learned I came from a home where I lived with a cat. In fact, the cat was put into the shelter along with Kawa and me. Pet Harbor has not yet performed a test for cat-friendliness but will. When this information is known, it will be posted here.
Experience with Dogs:
I lived with Kawa, also available for adoption. Though unverified, Pet Harbor was told I interacted well with dogs in my “temporary” house. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have really enjoyed playing with other dogs, male and female, around my size. I have not met dogs smaller than I am in foster care. I am not a dominant fellow by any means. I let Kawa rule in our household. I’ll do anything to keep peace! Kawa and I do not have to go to the same home.
Energy Level:
Medium-High
Owner Aptitude Level:
Novice
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Nicholas W. Brandemarti.
History:
Pet Harbor was told our human had to go to a hospital and we (Kawa, the kitty, and me) went to stay with a friend temporarily. As it turned out, our “mom’s” length of stay ended up being longer than expected. So Kawa, the kitty, and I landed in a county animal shelter. Our mom’s son was supposed to come from NY and redeem us. That never happened. So after our jail sentence ended, we came to Pet Harbor.

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Besides my stunning good looks, I have a stunning personality as well. Seriously, I am a lover without giving kisses. I am a peacemaker without fighting. I am an all-inclusive player. I am a doormat to other dogs without being sad about it. I just go with the flow. I even take medicine and vaccines easily. I don’t understand what happened. I had a home and family. Then I went somewhere else. Then I went to a place filled with dogs and cats and concrete. Then I came to foster care. So you might see some hesitancy and shaking from me, but it only lasts for seconds because I trust that you will assure me I am loved. My foster mom thinks I’m the cat’s meow (no pun intended). Even her dog (who does not like other dogs) loves me. I let him lick inside my mouth for a long time without overtly complaining. See, I am afraid Santa will ask if I’ve been good or bad. Under that threat, I can tolerate anything! Seriously, I really am plug and play and a tremendous delight and hope above all hope that my next home and family are forever.

Though unverified, Pet Harbor was told I came from a home where I lived with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met two children: a baby and a preschooler. I gave them an abundance of soft kisses. I especially love the baby, even when she’s not dropping food for me.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor learned I came from a home where I lived with a cat. In fact, the cat was put into the shelter along with Nichol and me. Sadly, on December 10, Pet Harbor performed a cat-friendliness test, and I failed quite miserably. There is no way I can live with cats or, more precisely, there is no way cats can live around me.
Experience with Dogs:
I lived with Nichol, who already found a home. Though unverified, Pet Harbor was told I interacted well with dogs in my “temporary” house. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have not had any negative incidents with other dogs, but I do have to assert my queen status. I am a female Siberian Husky, after all. I mostly stick to myself or people or Nichol.

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: My most favorite thing in the world is people. I will sit in front of you waiting to be petted for hours. If you stop for a second, I’ll remind you. If you walk, I become Mary’s little lamb. Of course, lest you think I am not a Siberian Husky, open the front door. Don’t expect me to sit politely when faced with an open door. 🙂 When you are eating, though, I will patiently sit, waiting for you to take pity on me. I will, however, be parked directly in front of you. So, really, I mostly am a lady. I love to snuggle. I love to be petted. I love you, all my people.

Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met several children, from age 1 all the way up. I play with them, and I give them easy, soft kisses. However, I do mouth. It isn’t a vicious thing, but it hurts. So until trained, tender skin could get hurt.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 12/22, Pet Harbor performed a test for cat-friendliness. I completely ignored the cats. On 1/7/18, I was tested again. I did show a bit more interest in cats but most ignored them. Please remember a cat-friendliness test is just a snapshot in time. To keep them safe, Siberians and cats should never be left unsupervised.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs, but I was tested with a male dog. I wagged my tail and then ignored the dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met several dogs and pretty much ignore them, no negative reactions.

History:
Running at large, I landed in an animal shelter. I served my time. No one claimed me. I then came to Pet Harbor. My breeder microchipped me, but the microchip company, unfortunately, won’t release the breeder info.
Movies:
  1. 12/30/17 – Wait for it… hear me speak at the end!
  2. 12/30/17 – I’m easy-going even with other male dogs
  3. 1/7/18 – I’m usually polite with children
  4. 1/7/18 – As long as I am understood, I can live with cats and kids

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: First thing you will notice about me is it is difficult to photograph me. My foster mom took 250 pictures of me one day and had one useable one because I spent my time pushing into her to pet me, pet me, pet me. It’s difficult to photograph a dog while he’s pushing against you! My medium energy comes with the fact I could sit for hours being petted. My high energy comes with the fact that, true to my breed, I love to run. I’m polite and will sit handsomely for treats. I do know basic commands. My personality is gentle and soft, a true love bug, except when I’m eating something like a bone or you try to make me do something I’d prefer not doing. That’s when I mouth (put my mouth on your hand to stop you). So that’s why I have to go to a strong owner or someone with experience.

  1. 11/29/17 – Toy for Tori

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Cute little ball of fluff isn’t enough to describe me, but it is a start! Happy to the nth degree, I leap like a deer out of sheer joy. Straight up in the air on all fours and then down, up/down, up/down, all the time with an uber smile. I am all about that puppy stuff. I play, play, and then play some more. I do settle down, but don’t rest on that because it doesn’t last for two blinks. Tori and her Toys! Toys are my best friend, and I make everything a toy. I especially love socks. Unlike many of my Siberian brethren, I will fetch, but when I decide I want to save my toy, I may bury it under your legs, in your lap, up your sleeve, anywhere safe. Oh, one little, teensy, itty-bitty negative if you call it a negative. I mouth, meaning I play with my mouth and it can hurt! I just need some training, but for young and old skin, I can really hurt without meaning to hurt. Also if you know your way around a kitchen, I need some food! Like many dogs when they come to rescue, I am underweight. So are you ready to have LOADS of love and fun? Did I mention I am full of kisses, too? That’s a bonus, I’d say!

Experience with Children:
My history with children is unknown. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have interacted with children ages 0 to 18 and all interactions with them have been positive. I love kissing them and being as close to them as possible and even watching over them while they sleep, protecting them against predators, real or imaginary. 🙂
Experience with Cats:
My history with cats is unknown. Pet Harbor has performed tests for cat-friendliness. Two short initial tests produced inconclusive results. I didn’t show aggression in either of them, but I did stiffen and have a focused stare. On 12/4, I was fully cat-tested. A nonmoving cat hissed at me. I ignored the cat before the hiss. I looked at him when he hissed but quickly moved my glance and body away from him. Then another cat ran. I took chase. Of course, I was not allowed near enough to see if I would bite. I was fixated on the running kitty. When the kitty went out of my sight (I was leashed the whole time.), I stood there barking incessantly. Pet Harbor isn’t convinced kitties would be safe living with me. On 12/11, I saw a cat about 10’ away. The kitty did not move. I stared and barked at the kitty. I wasn’t allowed close enough to harm, but I sure tried to get there.
Experience with Dogs:
My history with dogs is unknown. Before coming to Pet Harbor, a dog-dog test was performed at the shelter with another female dog. I wagged and played. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have interacted with multiple dogs around my size. Those interactions have been without incident and very playful. There is a small dog in my foster home (10 pounds). I chase the small dog and won’t allow her her personal space. My foster parents have to be careful to keep mini dog safe when I am near her.

History:

Movies:
  1. 11/25/17 – I cannot get close enough to babies!
  2. 12/15/17 – I love attention

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: A lucky lady I am. Many Siberians have one job. I am lucky enough to have two! Primary job is as a crime fighter, a masked crusader. I love to run. After all, masked crusaders need to run to chase criminals, right? Running masked crusaders are so beautiful… or at least THIS masked crusader is beautiful, running or otherwise. Kinda funny I am a masked crusader whose birthday is on Halloween, isn’t it? I would love to go trick-or-treating with my new family! My part-time job is as a member of the snack police squad. Someone could unwrap a candy bar on the other end of the house. My exceptional ears and attention will spring into action. Even when my foster family tells me their snack is off limits to me, I will lie nearby, all the while with a faithful eye guarding the snack. You see, I am great at both jobs. And if that’s not enough, there’s always the sugar on top. Yes, sugar because I’m sweet and loving and the life of the party. Be it a loud party, lots of bustling, loads of visitors, I’m the center of it all. So how about it? Bring me into your family and let’s have a “Gotcha Day” party!

Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor has been told my history with children is I have always lived with young children and been great with them. At Pet Harbor, I have met an infant and a toddler. They love me because I am smaller than other Siberians, but (a) that is only because I need fine dining and (b) I love them, too!
Experience with Cats:
My history with cats is unknown. On 11/9, Pet Harbor initially tested my cat-friendliness. At this point, their assessment is I cannot live with cats. I showed far too much interest. Because of my strength, if I attempted to show harm to a kitty, it would be difficult to stop. If I hang around Pet Harbor long enough, they will retest me, but at this point, kitties cannot safely live in my home.

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Oh, man, am I a cutie patootie! I have one of those funny little tails that is always up, not good for the confirmation ring but perfect for Cali! I’m a cuddler/snuggler. Once I gain some weight, I’ll be a fluffy cuddler. I enjoy standing on the back of the sofa looking out the window, with or without the children with whom I share the abode. I really love all people. And did I mention how cute I am? Oh, I probably should mention strength comes in small packages. I am super strong. Put a leash on me, and you’ll see! The good news is they make collars that fix that! Otherwise, who could ever walk me? Anyway, it’s starting to get cold. I know some people don’t like cold. So how’s about it? Want a snuggler to keep you warm?
