What am I?
Neutered male Siberian husky
Colors:
Red & white wooly, blue eyes
Weight:
53 pounds (as of 12/4/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. I am brand new to Pet Harbor. When more information is learned, it will be posted here.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 12/18/2022, Pet Harbor introduced me to cats. I sniffed and then paid no attention to the kitties. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. When evaluated at the shelter before coming to Pet Harbor, I was great with the dogs I met. I am brand new to Pet Harbor. When more information is learned, it will be posted here.
Energy Level:
Medium
Owner Aptitude Level:
Shy dog experience preferred
Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for Herbert Wilson Homer.
History:
Running at large, I landed in a county shelter. My humans did not come to look for me. So I came to Pet Harbor.
Movies:
Coming soon!

More About Me: Though I have been sweet in my foster home, I am also a bit of “shake in my paws” shy. My favorite person in the foster home is the dad. When I’m around him, I forget that I am shy.

Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children up to age 9 and have been great with them.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 12/19/2022, Pet Harbor introduced me to cats. Based on my reaction or, more accurately, lack of a reaction, Pet Harbor suspects I lived with cats in my prior life. I really was unfazed by the kitties. Virgil, who came from the same home I did, was equally as unfazed. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor was told I came from a home with other dogs, including Virgil, also available for adoption. When evaluated at the shelter before coming to Pet Harbor, I was great with the dogs I met. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with the dogs I’ve met. They’re all Siberian husky sized, both male and female.

More About Me: Really, what my foster family has observed about me can be described in one word: sweetness. I have been kind and gentle to the children and adults, for that matter, in my foster home and have been full of sweetness. I really have been an easy gal. The little girl in my foster home can walk me. You know, I’m one of those you just say, “Awww” when you encounter. I enjoy curling up with my people. Please note I do not have to go to the same family who adopts Virgil. I am my own woman.

More About Me: Really, what my foster family has observed about me can be described in one word: love. They can break that down to snuggles and hugs and kisses and desire to be near. I really have been totally full of love since I got to Pet Harbor. My personality just shines. You won’t catch me without smiles and happiness. Casanova, that’s what they should have named me. Big hugs are my claim to fame, the bigger, the better. I just really love giving (and getting) them! My foster dad says I’m a softie. When I am not getting enough attention, I’ve been known to nudge elbows to make sure the people know I’m there waiting for attention! In fact, I’ve been known to dance with my foster mom and sisters. Ed Sheeran is better than Taylor Swift. Failing attention, I play. I love to play: play with people, play with toys, play with dogs. I just love to play. Oh, and I’ll tell you a funny little story about me. When there is an extra chair, I love to sit at the dinner table with the rest of my people! Amazing. That’s what I am. I dance. I sit at the dinner table. I love. I’ve even been gentle with foster puppies. Truly, what more could you want? So how about it? Can I give you a big hug and showcase the rest of my love to you? Roux was already adopted. I’m still waiting for my home. I’ve been with Pet Harbor a long time, and they keep telling me some family is missing out on one of the best dogs there is or best Casanovas, that is.

More About Me: So probably the word that best fits me is fun. Maybe that’s why I sideline as a clown. I, of course, am all puppy. That will keep you in stitches as it is, but I also would wear a red nose & big, floppy shoes to make you laugh if that’s what it takes. Puppies are carefree and full of antics. That’s me. I’m a mischief-maker, a clown, and irresistible because being a mischief-maker and clown, I aim to make you laugh. So let’s shorten the words and get at the fun!

More About Me: I’m told swift drivers suck. Well, this Swifty doesn’t. Why? Because I don’t drive! Nor do I suck! In fact, I think I should be a Swifty truck driver, always on the go. Some of you in the trucking business might get this analogy. I can turn on a dime and don’t need GPS to reach my proper destination. I’m told swift drivers tend to get themselves into some odd situations. Somehow I’ve gotten into an odd situation, but someone did it to me. We all wonder what happened to my leg. We don’t know, but it doesn’t matter to me. I am totally fine with three!

Although I can and do run & play with my four-legged brethren, my foster mom says I am a pretty laidback guy. You will see in my pictures I’m frequently upside down. And let me tell you a secret. My foster family calls my brother a grumpy old man, but I go in my foster brother’s crate while he’s in there, and he shares with me! Isn’t that amazing?

Speaking of my foster dad, my foster dad keeps laughing every time he says my name. I wonder why.

If you’re looking for an awesome tripawd, come and meet Swifty. Maybe I’m the one for you.

More About Me: What can I say? There’s one thing I want and one thing I give, and that is love. I love to love. Well, my foster mom says I need groceries, too. Somehow, I had the same home and family for 3.5 years and came out of it super skinny. How did that happen? I am healthy. So did I not get food? It’s a mystery to the Pet Harbor folks. What they can tell you is I am just full of love. Maybe I was starved for food and love. It hasn’t affected my happiness, ability to love, energy level, any of that. Always have a smile on my face. I’ll always put a smile on your face. What else can I say? A girl just wants to be loved.

Experience with Cats:

Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with dogs. When evaluated at the shelter before coming to Pet Harbor, I was great with the dogs I met. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with most of the dogs I’ve met. I have met male & female dogs of all sizes. My play style is very puppyish. I did pick out one dog (Merrick, who found his home already). I constantly tried to do things to him that he did not like. But it’s okay. The others want to play with me. I have been fine with small dogs as well except my energy level was too much for one small dog.

More About Me: Scratch your head because it’s hard to believe I am the age I’m estimated to be. I am very much like a puppy. Don’t let my age fool you. I don’t act 2. My foster mom thinks I’ve got an awesome personality. The folks at the shelter from which I came think the same. Without hesitation, I have gone up to people with love to give and requests to receive love at first encounter, as if I’ve known them forever & we’re best friends. Then I jump about as my interest is held on one thing for only short periods of time. I’m happy, and I have to go to the next person or the next amusement. Like, there’s a ball in the air. I must go. There’s a noise over there. Gotta go investigate. There’s movement over here. I’m running back over. I may wrap myself around a pole, but I have to go! Toys. I love them. People. I love them more. Oh, there’s joy everywhere for me. When my foster mom pets me on top of my head, I slink down and position my belly for scratches. Every. Time. I keep her laughing. She got the biggest laugh when we were sitting on the porch and there were chainsaw noises in the area. I sat next to my foster mom, pushed against her, and gave soft, quiet barks. I am a funny pup with an awesome personality. Besides that, don’t you think I’m super handsome?

Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children prior to coming to Pet Harbor. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met children of all ages. I love them. I really want to play with them or just be with them. June 2023, I am in a foster home with children. The little boy says I am his all-time favorite dog.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats prior to coming to Pet Harbor. On 10/23/2022 and 10/30/2022, Pet Harbor introduced me to cats. I sniffed and went on about my business. On 12/14/2022, I met cats again. This time I had a strong focus on them. I chased one cat and pushed to be not distracted from another. While I may be okay with cats, it’s not a good idea for me to be left alone with them. June 2023, I am in a foster home with cats now where we are both free-roaming. No issues at all. Siberian huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if Pet Harbor’s evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.
Experience with Dogs:
Pet Harbor was told I do well with other dogs. In my evaluation, I did well with another female dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have met male and female dogs of all sizes and have been great with all of them.
Energy Level:

Owner Aptitude Level:

Named for 9/11 Victim:
I was named for George Gerard Howard.
History:
I was in one shelter. Pet Harbor does not know my history prior to that or why I was in that shelter. That shelter was full and transferred me to another shelter. The 2nd shelter placed me in a home. I was returned to the shelter and from there, came to Pet Harbor.
Movies:

More About Me: You know those dogs who love so much that they block your path because if they’re snoozing in your way and you head towards them, they will go belly up and want you to scratch? That’s the category in which my foster mom says I fall. No pun intended with the word “fall” there. If my foster mom does manage to get past me, I follow her. I’m not a pest or annoying. I give her gentle kisses unless she tells me to go away, at which point I will sit quietly in her exit path and wait for her to return. I am a snuggler, a hugger, a curl-up-in-your-arms kind of gal. At least that’s what my foster mom says. I try to give her hugs while she’s working. Her boss doesn’t like that much, but I don’t care about her boss. I just care about getting all my lovin’. My favorite thing to do with children at my foster home, besides just being with them, is to sit in front of them, swish my tail, and put up one or both paws so they’ll pay attention to me. Then as soon as they do, I slink down into belly-up position. It gets them every time! A win for both of us! Pet Harbor found evidence that in my first home, young as I was, I was used as a breeding machine. Fortunately, I got to leave there. Unfortunately, I left there with heartworm disease, which is caused by a mosquito. Then I ended up in two shelters, then in another home. They took good care of me, but they felt my energy level was too much for them as they were not spring chickens. They then returned me back to the shelter. Then I came to Pet Harbor. While I love the great outdoors since, after all, I am a Siberian husky, at least in my foster home and the home before it, I have been a cuddler and seem to want nothing more than to be belly up with my people on the bed or sofa or wherever we can get cozy.

What am I?
Spayed female Siberian husky
Colors:
Black & white, blue eyes
Weight:
36 pounds (as of 10/30/2022)
Experience with Children:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with children. On 10/21/2022, my first day at Pet Harbor, I exhibited some subtle warning behaviors when interacting with a 6yo child who came into my personal space. I then met a 9yo child and had no such behaviors. The 6yo child sat next to me, and I was great when she was petting my head, but when she put her hand across my back, that’s when I growled. 10/30/2022, an adult did that same motion of putting a hand across my back, and I closed my smile in the same way I did with the child. I am very sweet all the rest of the time. Well, unless you’re giving me a shot or drawing blood! A month later, I’m totally great with the same children. No matter where they pet me, I haven’t reacted negatively since the beginning of my time in foster care.
Experience with Cats:
Pet Harbor does not know my history with cats. On 10/21/2022, I was introduced to kitties. I didn’t react and was easily distracted, but when kitty ran, I ran after. On 10/30/2022, I was reintroduced to kitties. I had no issues with them. 11/23/2022, still no issues with them.
In my evaluation, I did well with another female dog. Since coming to Pet Harbor, I have been great with all dogs I’ve met. They’ve been male and female Siberian husky-sized.

More About Me: Information coming soon! First, while I am not available now to adopt, you should know I will be available to go to an adoptive home after my treatment for heartworm disease is finished. If my new family is found before my treatment is completed on January 15, 2023, they can foster me until I am finished with treatment and then adopt me if they can get me to my doctor appointments.
