Running at large, a good Samaritan found me and took me out of harm’s way. The Sam kept me the required time, seeking my owners. My owners were found but have been non-responsive to multiple attempts to reach. So, from there, I came to Pet Harbor.

More About Me:Whether gyms are open or not will not matter to my family. I have super strength and am ready to GO! Pull the kids in a wagon in the summer? Let’s GO! Pull the family in a sled in the snow? Let’s GO! Rough & tumble with the teenagers? Let’s GO! I’m a big, strong galoot. I kind of remind my foster mom of Disney’s Goofy! Well, shucks! On the other hand, I’m kind of like Marmaduke. I haven’t figured out how to get all of my long legs going in the same direction at the same time gracefully but have the best sense of humor about it all. I can fall, all the while smiling! Sweet & goofy, that’s me! And I have no idea I am as big and strong as I am. Maybe I’m like a super hero: tall enough to leap tall buildings or in my case clear counters without stretching!

As for an occupation, I might have a career in HVAC. Traveling from room to room, I like to spend time lying on top of the A/C vents. When the system cycles off, I know the vent is working properly. So I get up and move on to the next one. Or I might be a sportscaster. I like to talk when I play, like calling out all the plays to help you keep up with the game!

Please promise me you’ll take short kissing breaks. While I love to run and play, I equally love to cuddle & be cuddled. And at bedtime, I like to sleep with my people. Yes, I take up a lot of room! So if you don’t want me in the bed, guess what? I don’t mind the crate either! I’m really a good boy, just need a family who wants my strength, energy, and goofiness.

After I was rescued and before I came to Pet Harbor, I was introduced to cats. All of those interactions were positive. While at Pet Harbor, I have interacted with kitties who love me. I ignore them, even when they rub against me. Siberian Huskies tend to have a strong prey instinct and often show extreme, even fatal, aggression towards cats. Even if our evaluation is favorable, it may not translate to all cats under all circumstances.

Experience with Dogs:

My experience is I get along great with most other dogs, despite size and gender differences. It took me a few days in my foster home to decide to trust the dogs. Once I started playing with them, I didn’t stop. I’m still playing with them! I ONLY trust people when at least one other dog shows me it’s okay. My new home will need to have at least one other dog who will be my play buddy.

More About Me: Got treats? Got another dog? Have patience & love? The one major thing to learn about me is my shyness. My history taught me to be cautious of humans. My home will need to be a special home where I am understood. My Rome isn’t built overnight. You see, when the wonderful people rescued us from the terrible home where we lived in crates (see video under “History” above), some of us two per crate, all of us without food or water and many in crates that could not be opened without tools, that new world was hard for some of us. Understandably, I don’t see crates as friends of Cedric. When rescued, I was given the earned name of Cedric after Cedric Mingo, a pro boxer whose roots are in the same town mine are, because I sure am a fighter. I’m also honoring a 9/11 victim. So do you see how very special I am? At the time of my rescue, I weighed only 27 pounds. Yes, I was a full-grown adult. So treats are a good reward for me, and I will come for treats. The more distance I put between the situation from which I came and me, the more things have improved for me. I did not understand how to be normal, how to walk on a leash, how to do most things that come naturally to the majority of dogs. I’m learning. My foster mom & fur siblings are teaching me. My foster mom says I’m a really good boy. I don’t chew things I shouldn’t. I’m great with her dogs and kitty. My one issue is trusting people. When we were rescued by animal control, I was clinging to life. In fact, if you see the dog being carried in the photos because he couldn’t walk, that dog was me. I went to ER right away. Today, thankfully, I am alive and well. I’m ready for a family, a special family. You see, I have residual effects of that prior home. Sometimes I go in circles, inside and outside. See videos called “Circles” and “Circles 2” above. If you have been following our stories, I am sort of a cross between Nova & Ty. I’m shy like Nova, but I circle like Ty. We have all lived through our hard beginning, which is an amazing feat in and of itself. We’re learning and growing, and for some of us, it will take a while. Because of what I had to live through, trusting people is new to me. I am sweet. It’s not that I don’t want love. It’s that I don’t know what love is. I’m learning! The only way I trust people is when at least one other dog shows me the people are okay. I do still have to build the trust, but it is buildable. Without other dog(s), it isn’t. Without other dog(s), I’m not okay. I’m stressed and untrusting. But with other dog(s), I fairly rapidly start to unravel the barriers I have built to receiving love. I have come a long way with trusting my foster mom. Now I even let the neighbors pet me because my fur brother & sister showed me it’s okay. It took a bit of time, but it happened! So my home needs to be people with patience, gentleness, understanding, and full of lots of love to give me. Oh, before I forget, the vet put my age between 2 & 5. The shelter put me at 4. But because of my energy level, which is high, Pet Harbor put me at 2. Nobody really knows the accurate age. Progress is progress, but it takes baby steps to get there. The rewards to humans are immense when a shy dog trusts. The journey to that point is taken by people who are kind, patient, knowledgeable, and understanding. Is that you?

Because I ended the life of the kitty my family brought home, my family decided they didn’t want me anymore and put me in an animal shelter. From there, I came to Pet Harbor. It really is a shame people don’t research Siberian Huskies before they get them. The kitty would still be alive and I would still have my home if the prey drive of my breed had been respected.

More About Me: If you want a Siberian without a lot of baggage, pick me. I’m an easy boy. And I take things in stride. I haven’t tried to drag people when I am walked with a leash. I haven’t tried to escape. I don’t come barreling through to shower folks with kisses. I gently come up to you and politely give and request kisses. I’ve had a hard life. I hope the rest of it is easy. I just need one family, one home, somewhere to be the last place I have to hang my leash. And it seems to me with a personality like mine, that shouldn’t be so hard to accomplish.

More About Me: I adore people. I also love boating and sandbars. There’s a lot of cool stuff about my personality. My foster mom can carry me like a baby. I’m putty in her arms. I’m really overflowing with personality and sweetness. For entertainment, I open cabinets and peanut butter jars. I do have quite a lot to say. I heard this was an election year. So I’m campaigning, see!

When I came to Pet Harbor, I carried the baggage of escapism. I came from an animal shelter by the ocean & was adopted three times. Because of my escapism, I kept being taken back to the shelter. So then I came to Pet Harbor. From my tremendous escape ability, I got nicknames. Pet Harbor at first thought I needed another dog and my anxiety would be relieved. Well, that turned out not to be the case. I’m hoping I will get my forever home soon and all of my nicknames, mainly Spiderman, will disappear like magic!

I’m super smart & know lots of commands. I love toys. I love people the most. All people. Somehow, I seem to know which ones need more tender care (elderly, youngsters). More than anything, I love laps, cuddles, and running. Wow. This is starting to sound like a dating app! Maybe I should save up for flowers & chocolates.

More About Me: Let me tell you a bit about why my name was chosen. You see, I am really picky with my food, BUT I have no problem eating things that aren’t food. For example, when I went to the shelter, my stool was checked. In it, they found a sock. I couldn’t tell you where the other sock of the pair is, but it’s my understanding that solo socks are a common problem. Anyway, one of Pet Harbor’s amazing volunteers, the one who can find a needle in a haystack, found some sock-appropriate names for me from the list of 9/11 victims. I, therefore, became Bobbi, as in bobby socks. My foster family cannot figure out how I could have eaten a sock when I seem to do nothing wrong. Maybe it was my sole mistake ever? I really am a wonderful gal, sweet, gentle, not a powerhouse. I stay out of trouble & emit gentle sweetness. I paid attention when one of the White House inhabitants gave his inaugural address and became kind & gentle.

When I first came to Pet Harbor, Pet Harbor was told I lived with children in my prior home and was great with them. After coming to Pet Harbor, upon meeting children up to age 6, I lit up like a Christmas tree and could not kiss them enough. Then I found a home. There were children in my home and I did well with them. In my foster home, I live with teens and have been great with them. In addition, I have met younger children while in foster care and have done well with them also.

Pet Harbor has not introduced me to cats yet. If they are able to do so, the information will be posted here. Not that this is any test, but when people meow, I stiffen & become focused. Experience with Dogs:

Before coming to Pet Harbor, I ran free a good bit and would jump into people’s yards and play with their dogs. After coming to Pet Harbor, I had all positive reactions to other dogs. Running and wrestling with one of my foster sisters, another Siberian husky, I especially enjoy. On walks, I am interested in meeting other dogs, but since I enjoy my walks, too, I move on quickly. Pet Harbor has no knowledge of how I am with dogs smaller than Siberian Huskies. In my adoptive home, there were no other dogs, but Pet Harbor was told they discovered I am great with female dogs and some males with other males not so much. In my foster home, I live with two females and a male. I love the females and tolerate the male! I am not a dominant male.

History:

I repeatedly escaped the 4′ fence at my house and kept landing in doggy jail. Finally, my humans surrendered me to the doggy jail. So then I was safe. No more escaping. Southern Siberian Rescue and Pet Harbor Rescue worked jointly to get me into Pet Harbor’s program. Then I got adopted in 2020. Unfortunately, my then family moved and left me behind. I thought I was part of the family. I had no idea I was something that could just be tossed aside. If you can’t make a lifetime commitment to me, keep it movin’. I need and deserve a family who will stick with me through their thick and thin. And understand that when they place a dog in a home and the home fails the dog, rescue thinks twice about the whole purpose for its existence. So one bad apple can spoil a whole bunch and ultimately end the lives of lots of dogs. Please do not discard or abandon family members, fur or otherwise. So after two years believing I had a home and family, I came back to Pet Harbor, and here I am homeless . . . again.

More About Me: I hate to brag, but I am an awesome dog and great companion! Everybody who has met me along my journey has fallen madly in love with me. While I am mature and can chill with the best of them, I also enjoy a good romp with other pups and really love long walks. Oh, and can you please give me a belly scratch or two? Thank you so very much. Probably I should also let you know I’m not a big fan of crates, but when my foster family leaves me alone uncrated, I haven’t gotten myself into any trouble. So it’s all good.
